Story of this Icon
This icon is based on the Diveyevo Tenderness Icon of the Mother of God from Saint Seraphim of Sarov's cell. The Saint kept seven candle holders burning before it, symbolizing the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, and referred to it as the "Joy of all Joys." The icon, depicts the Theotokos without the Christ Child and represents the moment of the Annunciation. Throughout the Communist Soviet period, the icon was kept under the safekeeping of the Diveyevo nuns and is now housed at the Patriarchal Residence's Vladimirskaya church.
May the Theotokos & Saint Seraphim pray for you!
