Story of this Icon

Christ: based on the Image of Edessa - a holy relic consisting of a piece of cloth upon which the face of Jesus had been miraculously imprinted, it is known as the first icon.

Theotokos: based on the Diveyevo Tenderness Icon of the Mother of God. It depicts the Theotokos without the Christ Child and represents the moment of the Annunciation.
